Sharing papers in Academia.edu is currently limited to one share per destiny-account per paper and must be done individually, sending one by one. Premium accounts should perhaps be allowed to share more than just once to each destiny account -- maybe after a month the same paper could be shared again. That would be a minor change, requiring only a monthly reset of sharing count. Premium users should also be able to share a paper with all users affiliated to a selected department in a particular university (or to the 10 most active accounts with that affiliation), even if that were limited to just 10 or 20 departments a month in order to avoid serious spam. This would work as a form of correspondence with professionals active in particular fields. Their addresses are usually widely made available anyway, so this would just make communication simpler, encouraging one to reach out to peers and increasing the speed relevant knowledge is spread. Another way to ensure the relevance of this enhanced sharing would be to match paper's keywords with academic interests of the people with whom a paper can be shared.
